Stage 1
- Apply for a non-lucrative visa at the Spanish Consulate/Embassy in your home country
 - Approval notification received within 3 months
 
- Collection of the visa in person, within one month of approval notification
 - Approval notification is valid for 3 months and 15 days.
 
Stage 2
- Travel to Spain to apply for the TIE card (within the validity of the approval notification, 3 months and 15 days)
 - Enter Spain. Apply for the TIE card within one month of entry
 - Register on the padron (census) at the local Town Hall to obtain a certificate of address (we can assist)
 - Attend the TIE appointment at the local police station
 
Additional Information
- The non-lucrative only allows you to reside in Spain, not work, and is valid for 1 year.
 - It can be renewed for 2 years.
 - To renew the non-lucrative visa after the first year, it is not necessary to return to the UK.
 - We can do this on your behalf and present it electronically to the Foreigners Office.
 - The same documentation is required but you would have to prove sufficient financial resources for two years.
 
Financial Resources
Evidence of sufficient financial resources for 1 year is 2,259.60€ per month for the main applicant and 564,90€ per month for each dependent family member. These are minimum amounts. It will be double this if you renew for 2 years. You do not have to prove you are working, only funds in a bank account with a combination of regular income and savings.
